The challenge

Design a sofa that becomes the center of attention in any room.

The approach

Capture the chili's distinctive shapes, angles and colors, then translate them into seating.

Phase 01

Research

I started by carefully analyzing the shape of a real chili. It was important to capture all its essential features: its distinctive shapes, angles and vibrant colors.

Phase 02

Sketching

Once I had the key details, I sketched how the final piece of furniture would look: first draft, support system, headrest and the sitting experience.

Digital sketch

I digitized the sketches to experiment with the colors that would best suit this surreal piece of furniture.

3D in Blender

I finalized the design in Blender, rendering it in 3D.

Final

A curvy base in rich red follows the shape of a chili, with a playful green stem at one end. Plush round turquoise cushions add comfort and contrast, and bright green stems topped with red squares support the backrests.
