The challenge

Turn an everyday object of my choice into a building.

The approach

Just as a bottle opener unlocks a drink, this hotel aims to unlock unforgettable experiences for its guests.

Design process & development.

Phase 01

Ideation

During ideation I listed several objects and finally settled on a bottle opener.

Phase 02

Building form

The building has seven floors. Spheres in the middle hold the guest rooms, and a glass elevator runs between the buildings.

Phase 03

Spiral staircase

The central staircase is inspired by pencil sharpener shavings. I annotated their spiral shape to turn it into a staircase that wraps around the glass elevator.

Phase 04

RGB supports

The hollow supports on the sides are lit like RGB desk light bars, but with circular lights. They're bright enough to display text and messages.

Phase 05

Final

A helipad on the top floor, a rooftop pool and balcony, and a rooftop sky turf for football and basketball at sunset.
